My first photos aged 8 or 9, early 80's My first camera was an second hand 60's Instamatic 126 camera - I think a 133 or very similar. This is the real stuff, no instagram fakery ;-) - 126 Instamatic photos

I rarely add my self portraits, feeling rather self concious unless I am showing something off (new gear etc) but I've taken many since degree days as I'm the most available model I have - certainly there's no desire to see my fizog plastered anywhere, I wince at my own face. But here are some interesting experiments in scanner photography, using a scanner to take pictures - including moving your head when the scanner head moves...similar to photocopy photography too... - Cameraless self portraits, 1998

Tablet drawn Illustration from work
Forgot I did this - I used to draw via graphics tablet, work I think wanted an illustration of Archimedes in the bath. it wasn't what they were looking for but I kept the print out....it was from about 10 years ago. I never was that good at hands ;-) - In the art room 1992
First pictures I took in black and white and first pictures I developed myself, circa 92. Iford 'Safety Film' (!) FP4. Camera was a strange secondhand Russian or German camera with an odd square aperture which had problems focusing (I think the lens was coming away!). Negs are in a terrible state I've done what I can but it's like snow if you zoom in...I rewashed them which made a massive difference but bad handling before I had a clue, storage and dusty/scratchy enlargers and I think underdeveloping and/or crap in the developer haven't helped. You name it these negs have it: hairs, dust, odd watermarks, gunk on the negs that won't wash off, scratches, damaged emulsion, holes in the film (!) *sigh* First pictures I took in black and white - and this was the first portrait I was proud of, and first pictures I developed myself, circa 91.
