Max is resting
Unusually informal photo of Max Slevogt smoking a cigar in the garden of Neukastel, around 1925. Methinks unplanned hence the angry expression.
Like Matisse, a cat lover, there are other photos with his cat! -
OG Blofeld
A bit later than my usual period, but still so much style.
This is Czechoslovakia’s clone of James Robertson Justice (look at a few pics, it’s uncanny even the cigar!) called Jan Werich. He was the original Blofeld in You Only Live Twice https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=cRhVEl9veNM#t=114, but the director thought he looked too Santa-Claus like!

A bit modern for this blog but still vintage shot of Burl Ives looking very sexy 😉

In the UK there was a big fuss about this classic picture, they photoshopped the cigar out when it was used on the cover of a school text book.
