If this isn't nice, I don't know what is "Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

First time I saw an Alberto Giacometti drawing it was a revelation – I’d been always criticised cos my drawings were ‘too loose’ and not like the precise lines of Raphael or Rembrandt…when I saw his work I realised fuck that, I draw like I draw, and realised that I couldn’t and wouldn’t fit into this strange neo-classical ideal of the perfect line.

Sadly I eventually stopped doing representative life drawing and painting, I thought these old modes of painting and drawing were dead or dying. Although I understand why and still agree with why, If I’d only had seen Alberto’s work then, things might be very different…I do miss life work.
