If this isn't nice, I don't know what is "Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies—God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Life Drawing #5

Unusually the Posca pen and graff of last week didn’t work, maybe it’s this model, or just a mood thing…I rarely like to repeat a triumph twice (bit of a problem if you want to develop a voice or dare I say it…a career?) but charcoal and pastels did work, swoop, swoop, swoop.

A sort of Naum Gabo/Duchamp Nude Descending thing going on, serpentine lines which I love mixed with my usual scratchy scratchy Giacometti drawing style (which John quipped she wasn’t thin enough for that – I mean the drawings, not the sculptures!)

It was a revelation and a coming home when I saw his drawings of many lines, I’ve always felt bad about my imprecise technique but immediately realised it wasn’t ‘wrong’, just different.

But I don’t want to stay still…I think next week it’s pencil and dip pen, back to basics. I need to firm up my anatomy and proportion. But I think I’m getting there.
