Madame Delait, the bearded lady of Plombières: “Madame Delait was proprietor, after the death of her husband in 1928, of the ‘Café de la femme au barbe’ at Thaon-les-Vosges. She let her beard grow as the result of a bet. She became a celebrity and travelled to exhibit herself in England and Ireland.
