Another unusually informal portrait, this time 40 years later – when the technology meant he could hold that fan up without it being reinforced in concrete (seriously, they had arm and neck rests to keep people in place for Dageurrotypes and early shots because they took minutes of exposure time) or him being turned to stone by an Angel 😉
